As the name indicate, Thanksgiving is a festival of saying Thanks. It is a national holiday celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada.
Although the celebrations, customs and traditions of Thanksgiving festival differ in Canada and USA, but one thing is in common that the day is celebrated as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year.
Thanksgiving has its historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, but today Thanksgiving has become a time for families and friends to get together, eat probably too much, and give thanks.

Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving Day known as Jour de l’Action de grâce in Canadian French is celebrated in Canada on the second Monday in October.
Thanksgiving in United States of America :
Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving Day is celebrated in United States of American on the fourth Thursday in November.
History of Thanksgiving :
Harvest celebrations have been around a long time. Ever since the very first harvest, about 2000 years ago, people have given thanks for a prosperous bounty.
Prayers of thanks and special thanksgiving ceremonies are common among almost all religions after harvests and at other times. There are many other countries around the world which have days and / or festivals which have similar celebrations but in different names.
